Packing

I thought that the more I packed, the emptier (my own word hehe) my house would look/feel - I must not be doing something right because this house looks like a tornado has hit it! Not boxes sitting everywhere, but "stuff". My kitchen table is buried and you can barely walk through the living room. I think it's mostly things that wouldn't all fit in one box so I left it to go in another box, just haven't put it in one yet. I'm usually a VERY organized person, so this totally overwhelms me when I see it! I need to make a list of what I need to do. I love lists, especially when I write down every tiny thing that needs done - marking off all those lines gives me such a huge sense of accomplishment! Well, I'm off to try to get some things done!

The Amazing Has Happened!

Jodi - on her own free will - made a loaf of chocolate chip bread tonight!! I didn't have to beg or even help her! For those who don't understand, Jodi will not even fix herself an egg! I was packing a couple more kitchen cabinets and she saw the box and asked if she could make it for breakfast, I said yes, but didn't think anything would come of it - miracles do happen. LOL Here's proof:

WE'RE MOVING!! :o)

We have bought a house! We close on Friday! We'll start packing here this week, and next weekend start cleaning there. The current owner is painting it this week. Pastor announced it at church this morning, so I'm sure we'll have plenty of help for the move. I'm so excited (and nervous, and a lil scared, and happy - all at the same time)!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

Actually, this should've been posted yesterday. We've finished our school work!! :o) We're still going to do math flash cards daily. It feels wonderful to look at all those books that we've completed. It is such a sense of accomplishment!

Rice Krispy Bunnies

I seen this idea at our local card shop, and decided I would make them to take to Easter dinner. They would've looked better if I hadn't waited until the last minute to make them - but they're still edible.

Easter Story Cookies - 2

Yeah! Our cookies turned out! We didn't put the nuts on them because Jim can't have them. I'm also posting the recipe below.

Easter Story Cookies

Before you begin, preheat oven to 300 degrees.

1) Place 1 cup whole pecans in a zipper baggie and beat with a wooden spoon. This represents Jesus being beaten by the Roman soldiers after His arrest. Read John 19:1-3

2) Place 1 teaspoon vinegar into a bowl. When Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30

3) Add 3 egg whites to the vinegar. Eggs represent life. Jesus gave His life to give us life. Read John 10:10-11

4) Add a pinch of salt to the bowl. Taste the salt. This represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness of our own sin. Read Luke 23:27

5) Add 1 cup of sugar. The sweetest part of the story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him. Read Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16

6) Beat with a mixer on high speed for 12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed. The color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3

7) Fold in broken nuts. Drop by teaspoons onto a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Each mound represents the rock tomb where Jesus' body was laid. Read Matthew 27:57-60

8) Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the oven off. With a piece of tape, seal the oven door. Jesus' tomb was sealed. Read Matthew 27:65-66

9) Go to bed! You may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20 & 22

10) On Easter morning, open the oven and remove the cookies. Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! On the first Easter, Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read Matthew 28:1-9

Easter Story Cookies

We all worked together to make the Easter Story cookies that I read about on Jennifer's blog! I think we have found a new tradition for our household! They are all 'sealed' in the oven, hopefully they will turn out right. We'll see in the morning! (I forgot to take pics while we were making them, so I'll have to take some in the morning)

SNOW?!?!

There are snow flurries floating in the air! It was 82*, then the next morning it was snowing! I guess that is spring in Ohio. The highs are only in the 40's for the next few days. UGH.
